ERLUS supports the Glückstour charity bike ride

HOW GERMANY'S LARGEST PRIVATELY ORGANISED CHARITY BIKE RIDE HELPS SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN

Straubing. Around 50 chimney sweeps, more than 500 kilometres and a new donation record of 536,784 euros: The Glückstour 2026 charity bike ride ended in Straubing. ERLUS once again supported Germany’s largest privately organised charity bike ride with a donation of 2,000 euros.

ERLUS Regional Sales Manager Holger Lanz also took part in the final stage from Ingolstadt to Straubing. In the region, he is responsible for stove builders and specialist dealers within the chimney systems and ventilation network business unit. The Glückstour has already stopped at ERLUS several times. Most recently, participants visited the chimney plant in Ergoldsbach in 2023.

Riding together for seriously ill children

“Chimney sweeps work with our systems every day. We have been supporting this charitable initiative for many years. What particularly convinces us is that the donations reach the affected children and families directly, without any deductions,” says Andreas Wilhelm, Chief Sales Officer at ERLUS.

The Glückstour has taken place every year since 2006. Around 50 chimney sweeps cycle across Germany each year. Since its launch, more than seven million euros in donations have been collected and passed on directly to regional children’s hospitals, parent initiatives, hospices and affected families. In 2026, 76 donation cheques of 3,000 euros each were presented.

“What drives the chimney sweeps is about much more than the joy of sport – they combine their athletic achievement with a good cause. Thank you to everyone who makes this wonderful initiative possible every year with such commitment!” said Bavarian Minister of Transport Christian Bernreiter at the finish line in Straubing. He had cycled the final stage himself. Since 2006, the Glückstour cyclists have been collecting donations for children suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. More than seven million euros have been raised so far. The funds go directly to children’s hospitals, hospices, parent initiatives and affected families.
